Battery - max. input voltage

by bryndak Tue Jan 24, 2017 2:52 pm

Hi there, I would like to ask you fo a max value of Vdd? The max value which I found in the datasheet is 3.6 V and the recommended value is from 2.3 to 3.3 V. We would like to use a lion Li-S0Cl2 battery with max voltage 3.7 V. Do you have any experiences with this tape of battery? Can it be used?

THX

Hi bryndak.
I am using a Li-SOCl2 battery, but I am also using a 2.8 or 3.3 V voltage regulator.

A voltage regulators waste energy of a battery. We developing an application which should works 10 years with battery. This is the reason why we chose LiSoCl (huge capacity against Lion) and don¨t want to use LDO. The LiSOCl battery should go down with voltage (under 3.6 V) during Sigfox TX due to load characteristic of the battery. But I am not sure about voltage around 3.6 - 3.7V during the sleep phase of cycle. Datasheets of radio and uC show max 3.8 VCC. .

Does anyone have experience with it?

I am little bit disappointed that no one has responded from TD.

We don't have experience with this type of battery.

The Absolute maximum ratings and recommended voltage range are all written in the datasheet, if you don't respect them, you are on your own!

Besides the MCU and the RF chip, the limiting component is the TCXO, whose supply voltage is from +1.8V to +3.7V and maximum rating is -0.6V to +4.5V.
