TD1208 module doesn't allow downlink to be used

by christophevg Thu Dec 17, 2015 11:54 am

We ...
- ... have recently purchased a TD1208 SigFox module for the development of a prototype for an IoT product.
- ... use the UART interface and the AT commands to interact with the module
- ... have moved our account from the TD backend to the SigFox backend

We encountered problems with the use of the downlink: when requesting a downlink, this request doesn't reach the SigFox backend.
E.g.: when we try the example from the TD1208 reference manual: AT$SF=33 31,2,1

We contacted SigFox support and went through a few interactions to debug the problem. A few commands were used to identify the module:

ATI7
1695A
TDID: 452001265753

OK
AT&V
Telecom Design TD1208
Hardware Version: 0F
Software Version: SOFT1351
S/N: 0001695A
TDID: 452001265753
ACTIVE PROFILE
E1 V1 Q0 X1 S200:0 S300:24 S301:2 S302:14 S303:1 S400:000000 S401:FFFFFFF S402:0 S403:869412500 S404:14 S405:32

AT$IF?
868200000,200,20

So far, everything seemed fine, but when requesting the downlink frequency, it seems this fails...

OK
AT$DR?
ERROR

Also setting these parameters fails:

AT$IF=868130000,200,20
OK
AT$DR=869525000
ERROR

What would be a next step to resolve this problem?

After another review we have found a solution:

In the manual it states that the Send Frame command is supported as of SOFT1445 and according the the AT&V command, our module was at SOFT1351 … So it was logical the command didn’t succeed. After upgrading to SOFT1451 I just managed to send AND receive a frame.

Thanks for stressing this once again, which made us take a second look, thus noticing the old software version we had.

Yes, although the commands are implemented in the SOFT1351 firmware, downlink is only supported since SOFT1445, and the Sigfox-certified firmware for the TD1208 is SOFT1451.
